Summer is here, and with it comes a shift in our routines, thanks to the weather, school breaks, and travel plans. It’s easy to fall into the trap of abandoning our fitness and nutrition goals and waiting for things to settle down. However, this mindset can take up a significant portion of the year, not just summer but also the disruptions in routine during November and December.
Taking a break from working towards our goals for 50% of the year isn’t productive. Instead, it’s important to keep taking steps forward, even if they are small or less frequent than usual. Going to the gym twice a week instead of four times is still progress. Making healthier choices when possible, even if you have more indulgent moments during summer, is better than completely abandoning your nutrition plan.
Don’t wait until fall to get back on track. Push through the challenges of summer by maintaining some level of consistency, and be forgiving of yourself when things don’t go as planned.
