Joining CrossFit was something I thought Id never find the courage to do. I was introduced to All Kine CrossFit by Joyce who was interested in joining, but wanted someone to hop on this journey with her. I was a little hesitant at first because the word “CrossFit” was a bit intimidating to me. I thought long and hard and I decided, I’m all in. We made the call and after talking and meeting with Joanna I was sold. One of the selling factors for me was the level method training. When a normal person hears “CrossFit” they immediately think of heavy weights, flipping massive tires, and hardcore workouts a normal person CAN’T do and after learning what the level method training was, I said to my self, maybe this CrossFit thing isn’t as bad as I thought it was and that I CAN do this! I believe All Kine CrossFit is the only gym on the island that uses this method of training, which made them stand out from the rest of the gyms. Not only did All Kine offer level method training, they also offered nutrition coaching which was something I was interested about as I’ve struggled with fad diets and dieting. I felt that the All Kine team would be able to provide me with the guidance I’ve been wanting to live an active and healthier lifestyle.
Fast forward 6 months, I guess you can say I’m addicted. I’ve been working out consistently and continue to surprise myself with what my body is capable of doing every day. I feel that my consistency stems from the constant flow of motivation and support, not only I receive, but also the motivation and support the members in the All Kine Ohana share amongst one another. Since day one, the motivation and support has been consistent and that drives me to push harder and work harder every day. You’ll never leave the the box with out a fist pump and a good job or a simple pat on the back. It’s an amazing environment to be in and to be able to make connections with such amazing coaches and members makes the experience of being a part of the All Kine Ohana an amazing one!
One of my best stories about All Kine Crossfit would have to be the time I began my nutrition journey. Dieting and nutrition has been one of my biggest struggles and at this point I had been working out for about a month and felt it was time to give nutrition a try. Doing so was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Not only did I progress during my three months with nutrition coaching but also gained the knowledge of how what I am eating affects my performance and my overall health. Making simple tweaks like consuming more vegetables, counting macros, etc. has made my dieting experience a breeze. I was able to eat whatever I wanted, in moderation of course, all while still “dieting.” Not once have I felt trapped or restricted like I did when I was on keto. And the best, most satisfying thing about this journey was being able to see results in, not only my body composition, but also in my daily performance. In successfully completing my 3 months of nutrition with the help of Joanna and Ipo, I was able to break bad habits and gain a better, more sustainable eating habit. I am able to share my journey with friends and family and use my story as a way to push and motivate them to live an active and healthy lifestyle.
My advice I’d give the person I was a year ago would probably be to not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. To grab the bulls by the horns and just give it your 110%. You may feel uncomfortable at first, but in the end be glad you got to live the experience. Who knows, you may end up enjoying it more than you thought you would.
